Version 1.0 BETA 1, BUILD 20080914

Hi,

Thanks for such an excellent Photo Gallery!

I know you insist users not use JG on a real site, but I've got 'Version 1.0 BETA 1, BUILD 20080914' working just fine and I'd like to use it on a real site.

Will updates ever require a database flush causing lose of data? Or will I be able to upgrade from one version to the next without losing data or having to editing database tables?

This was an issue with Joomla 1.5 until it came out of Beta.

Best,

wolfix

Hi,
sorry for the delay...

Yes, we insist the users to not install this BETA version of JoomGallery on productive site.
We are sure there are somewhere bugs to solve before naming a stable version..

In actual we have published a zip from the component (10/15/2008) which is still in BETA phase.

You have to reinstall this component because in relation to our first zip (7/20/2008) we have included some database modifications
e.g. in modifing the CSS in backend or the new favorites with a new database table.

With this zip we will not include no more features and we are going to a stable phase.
Our only focus remains from now on fixing bugs.

The -so named- upgrade script includes all files but in the folder structure after installation of the component.
It will not do any necessary database related modifications, just file renews.

After publishing a stable version of the JoomGallery we will provide you with a real upgrade script which will do all the work including necessary database additions or modifications.

Regards
Andreas

Ok, so if the data base is fixed at this stage, I'm going to go ahead and start using it on Production sites; hoping I can do upgrades instead of fresh installs from here-on-out.

I spoke too soon... I just installed Beta_1_Build_20081015 and can't delete images through the backend. See post: http://www.forum.en.joomgallery.net/index.php?topic=302.msg826#msg826

However, I was able to delete 2 out of 3 of the images in the Front-end.

Also, after uploading images via ftp, JG didn't delete the png images but did delete the jpg's.

I actually have a small production site with a handful of members. Like you as long as the DB is fixed i went a head and installed it. So far so good here. I warned members that this is a beta 1 . BTW great work on this.
