Hi,

may be someone can help me to solve the problem. I've tried both versions (1.5.0.4 and a last beta) and in both version the same song. I've installed the language pack and can see the russian labels in the frontend, but when I try to make a new category with a title and description written in russian, I get the question marks instead. I've checked the codepage and my editor. The codepage is UTF-8 and when I switch my JCE 1.5.2 to russian, it doesn't help as well. Image titles and descriptions couldn't be saved in russian too. Since I make this page for russians, so the gallery goes useless for me, but I like it very much and would be happy, when this problem could be solved.

Many thanks in advance!

P.s.: I'm under Win XP, DE with russian support. Other article titles, descriptions and a content can be saved in russian whithout any problem.

Hi,
in JoomGallery 1.5.5 MVC there is only one language available, the english one already included in the zip.
The others will follow hopefully.
Did you encounter this problems with question marks with other extensions in Joomla?

Regards
Andreas

Hallo Andreas,

I've tried the 1.5.0.4.version with russian installed as well, but it doesn't work also.

Other extensions of Joomla work with non-latin characters without any problem. But! recently I've bought the Datso-Gallery and encoutered the same problem :-(  I've proofed MySQL language settings also. It seems OK, text encoding is UTF-8. So, it seems to be the PHP-de/encoding problem, when the HTML-Form goes to server and then into database, or some serverside settings. Created categories directories look like "_1", "_5" and so on.

The frontend language on my installation of Joomla is russian. The back-end language is english. I've tried to switch admin language to russian, but it does not help as well. So, I'm in a dead end now. :-(

Best regards,
Alexey.

Hi,

so, I've solved the problem.  Cool

All text fields in the gallery database (not in Joomla tables!) on my hosting-server were created with "latin1_swedish_ci" collation:
name     varchar(255)     latin1_swedish_ci

I've changed encoding of all text fields in the gallery database to UTF-8:
name     varchar(255)     utf8_general_ci

and now everything works fine! I think that the same problem was with the JoomGallery database.

Best regards,
Alexey.
