Hi,
Certain pictures no longer or shorter than other pictures produce a number for a filename when downloaded.
Such as "Chartier_Plantation_1" is "_20110521_1322916842.jpg"

In the German forum there was a solution to remove the extra letter 's' in a section "$newfilename = JoomFile::fixFilename($sorigfilename);" on line 897 in the upload.php.  I did that and it didn't help.

Select the menu Photo Gallery, then select Punch! Houses, then the Antebellums and Plantations.  Look at the Chartier Plantation and what the download says.

what was the exact original filename of the image when you uploaded it?

Hi mab, the filename was Chartier_Plantation_1, and Chartier_Plantation_2, etc.,  I've tried several and no matter what the filename is, it produces numbers.  Here is a link to the backend showing the uploads from the frontend.

Hi Donna,

could you please send one of those files to mab[at]joomgallery[dot]net. Please send me an original as you've used for uploading. Did you use the batch upload?

could you please check additionally the content of the fields 'Special characters' and 'New characters' in tab 'General Settings' -> 'Replacements' of the configuration manager and reset them if there '?' in it, for example.

MAB and Chraneco,
MAB, as I said, it doesn't matter what the filename is, it uploads as numbers when uploading thru the frontend but I will send you the images. 

Chraneco, the special characters do not have a '?' in them.  They are set at the default of: ä|ö|ü|ß and the replacemnts are:  ae|oe|ue|ss

you're right; this is a bug!
Please unzip the attached zip and copy the file upload.php into
path_to_joomla/administrator/components/com_joomgallery/helpers/
Please backup the original file.
Sorry, but you have to upload your images with the missing filename again.

Hi mab

I see this is an old thread but can you tell me if the component normal behaviour is to rename files?

I can't find a single solution to this in the entire forum, a few users posted the same but not one answer.

I mean my problem is that Joomgallery is adding a lot of numbers after the filename,

like here: http://www.comenaranjas.com/fotos/naranjas/navelinas/naranjas-navelinas-14.html

file renamed by component as: naranjas_navelinas_20111202_1536865539.jpg

original name uploaded:  naranjas_navelinas_2.jpg
