I'm migrating away from an older Joomla 1.5 / Gallery2 combo, to a new Joomla 1.7 site.  My test 1.7 site currently works with G2 by using JFusion as a bridge, but I'd love to migrate to a native Joomla component for my gallery, and JoomGallery seems to fit the bill. 

Is there a clean, clear migration path from G2 to JoomGallery 2.0?  I looked in the downloads & documentation, but didn't see a migration script to download, nor did I see a thread here under JoomGallery 2.0 for migrating specifically from G2.

While I can easily download the actual images and re-add them, I have a LOT of metadata (mostly captions / descriptions) in my G2 Gallery I'd like to keep.

sorry, I think there's no migration script for migrating from G2 to JoomGallery 2 available yet.

Maybe having a look at the migration script for migrating JoomGallery 1.5.7 to JoomGallery 2 can help you creating the script by yourself.

Unfortunately, I'm not a coder.   I only know enough PHP to be dangerous, mostly to myself...

I'll keep an eye on the Forums here, but please mark me as VERY interested in a migration script for G2 to JG2!

With the release of JoomGallery 2, I am hoping this can get some attention, and possibly a solution found.

There is currently NO migration path from Gallery2 to any Joomla native gallery system, be it JoomGallery or another one (Phoca, etc.).  The ability to import data from Gallery2 to JoomGallery would be a huge benefit, not only to the Joomla Community, but to JoomGallery as a product.

I realize that the JoomGallery team might be unable to take this on, but if someone else is willing to develop the script, it would be great for the JoomGallery (and Joomla) community as a whole.

As a heads up, I've asked Virya Software to write the migration script, since I am in a crunch to find a way out of G2 and into a Joomla-embedded solution.  Once I know more about this (and the script is working and available), I'll link to it here.

thank you very much. Please remember them that they can use the migration helper class JoomMigration which comes with JoomGallery package. With that one it will be much easier to create such a script. The migration script for migration from JoomGallery 1.5.7 can be used as an example for how to use the migration helper.

Is there anyone who would be willing to help write a Gallery2 (v2.3.x) to JoomGallery 2.0 migration script?

I can gladly provide a hosting / testing environment, with a sample of data from my live Gallery, if needed.

I still haven't been able to find someone to take this on for me, and I'm at the point I need to pay someone to write the script, or learn PHP myself.

Is anyone able to help with a G2 => JG2 migration script, either as a contribution to the JoomGallery project, or for pay?  Does anyone know of a reliable coder that could be hired for such a project?
