I had some issues yesterday with migration I like to share with you all.
When i started migration al checkmarks were green, though directly after hitting upgrade i got an error 500. No details, no php errors.

I found that using the ftp layer was my problem.
- firstly my logs directory was still pointing to the original location i.e. jupgrade/logs.
- then i found that the migration log needs to be writable by the apache user. so set logs directory to 777.

i finally got details by the upgrade script, which excelled everything :)

- The ftp user cannot move the original imaged, because its home is set to /jupgrade in de new Joomla 2.5 setup (at least mine :)
- When I copied the original joomgallery images folder to jupgrade (and pointed to them) the migration script worked good.

To the JoomGallery team: Could you please check the ftp layer and (logging) rights?
