I'm trying to install the migration script to a joomla 1.5 website that is located in a subdirectory of my main site, because I just upgraded to joomla 2.5. I alredy did that yesterday and it worked but then in my infinite wisdom I forgot to back up before I deleted some files. Then I just tried to install the migration script again but now I get errors that the xml installation file is not found. Why? It worked fine the day before...

I do have the .sql backup though so I tried to import all the joomgallery tables but then I get a 500 error in the category menu. It says that Image with ID 501 is not found.

Hi,

this documentation article describes extensively how to migrate from JoomGallery 1.5 to JoomGallery 2.

You have to install the migration script in Joomla! 2.5 and not Joomla! 1.5.

Well... I tried migrating again and this is what I got:

Parent asset ID could not be found

When the migration script checked the system everything was fine (otherwise I wouldn't have been able to go on anyway) then after a minute or two I get this error. Any idea what could be causing it?

Hi,

most probably there was something destructed from previous tries to migrate.

Which version of JoomGallery 2 do you have installed exactly?

Please import a backup and try again with the latest version.

I'm using the latest version of joomgallery. That's 2.1.2 stable I believe.

I already tried removing joomgallery, reinstalling it and trying to migrate again. Same error. I noticed some images and categories (I don't know if it was most of them or all categories but there were a lot) were actually transfered but nothing more. Most categories are left empty and those that aren't don't have all of the images.

Hi,

is it possible to create categories in that JoomGallery via the category manager?

No... I can't even get to the category manager. I get a Image with ID 501 not found error.

Hi,

then it is not a fresh install of the gallery.

You have to completely remove it (ensure that no database entries are left) and reinstall it.

Here's the rundown...

My new site uses j17_ extention while my old site uses jos_ extention. ONLY the jos_ extention tables from joomgallery are in the database. Nothing else... So I can't really remove anything more. Without the jos_ tables I won't be able to migrate the gallery. So it is a fresh install but I still get the error.

I just tried uninstalling and installing the gallery again same issue but when I uninstalled joomgallery i noticed that the migration script was still in there. When I uninstalled that I got this error

Failed deleting migratemvc2acl.php
Uninstalling file was successful.

Could that have anything to do with the issue?

Hi,

I don't think that that's the reason for the failing migration, but it could be a hint for permissions problems on your server.

If there aren't any database tables of the new JoomGallery it's impossible that it is looking for an image with ID 501.
Could you please post a screenshot of this message?

Hi,

but you get this error message in category manager only after trying to migrate, isn't it?

Are you able to create new categories in category manager directly after a fresh new install of JoomGallery?

Which install method do you use for JoomGallery?

Yes. The error comes up only after I try to migrate but after a fresh install everything works and looks fine. I used the extensions manager to install joomgallery and the migration script.

Oh, I give up... I'm just going to manually migrate from one gallery to another. In the time I spent trying to fix this issue I could have migrated already. It's going to be a pain but it has to be done...
