I'm having a huge issue with joomgallery that baffles me. Last week, everything was working fine. I didn't change anything in the backend of joomla, I'm the only admin and all of a sudden I keep getting this error when I try to create a new category:

0 - An error has occurred.

Invalid parent ID.

Return to Control Panel

The category is then created but I can't delete it in the backend (I have to delete the tables in mysql) and I can't upload any images in to it. Could this be a permissions problem?

Hi,

most probably the assets table is broken.

Do you have already any images in your gallery or would it be fine to remove anything and reinstall it?

The gallery is HUGE! Simply removing the images and reinstalling anything would be a big hassle.

Hi,

then, it would be necessary for me to have access to your backend and your database.
I cannot imagine what's wrong there.

Acces to backend is no problem, but what if I export my database tables and send you that?

Hi,

yes, the export of the database could be helpful, too.
You can send it to the e-mail address in my forum profile.

Important are all tables of JoomGallery, the '#__extensions' table and the '#__assets' table.

Hi,

yes, but unfortunately I didn't find any problems in it.
Would it be possible to get backend access and FTP access to your site?
If you agree with that please send me the details via PM.

Hm... If the tables are alright is it possible to manually migrate the galleries, I mean what if I backup the files and tables, uninstall joomgallery, reinsert the tables and just reupload the originals, thumbnails and details folders? Is that possible? Maybe something is wrong with the core files of joomgallery. I have no patience to manually reupload all the galleries via java upload, etc. But simply reuploading them via ftp... That's doable :P

Ok... I got in contact with our server provider... He told me he changed the tmp folder locations that's why some other stuff wasn't working (I tried reinstalling joomgallery), but when we solved that issue the gallery still won't let me upload images. It still gives me 0 error- invalid parrent ID. It creates the category and uploads one image but after that it aborts the upload. It also isn't a space issue since we have more than enough.

Anyone? I'm not going to give FTP acces to someone that I don't know so that option is out of the question...

Hi,

you said that you reinstalled JoomGallery. If the problem still persists now the reinstallation was not successful.
After uninstalling you have to clean the database completely from JoomGallery.

You were right... I reinstalled joomgallery again and everything worked fine... Then what I did was replace the new tables in MySql with the ones I exported from the old install. And the same error poped up. So something has to be wrong with the tables not joomgallery itself.

Ok... Something new... I just figured out I can make a category as a standalone but can't assign it to a parent category and I'm pretty sure there's something wrong with the joomgallery_catg table. I've tried switching this table out with a fresh table and the fresh table worked fine... When I put this table back in the error poped up again. I think this should make things easier since I at least narrowed down the problem.

While on the topic I had a problem a few weeks ago that was solved on these boards:
http://www.forum.en.joomgallery.net/index.php?topic=6083.msg19100#msg19100

Could it be possible that these are somehow connected?

Hi,

it's not possible to import database tables of JoomGallery from another Joomla! installation.
That's because JoomGallery is using the ACL of Joomla!, so the database tables of JoomGallery are connected to a core table of Joomla!.

If you import the tables into a new Joomla! installation this connection will be lost and so there are errors.
