I've installed joomGallery 2.1.4 on my Joomla and when I try to add a new category, the field for parent category displays nothing, it has the place for the field but the selection field is not there.
And when I try to save the category, it show me a Fatal Error: Cannot access parent:: when current class scope has no parent.

How can I solve this problem?

Hi,

the error message points to a file that belongs to the core of Joomla!, not to JoomGallery. I haven't seen this error before.

Are there already any categories in your gallery or is it the first one that you are trying to create?

Are you logged in as a super administrator?

No, this is the first category that I'm trying to create, but as so this is the first time I'm having problems like his with JoomGallery.

Can it be a problem with the PHP version I'm using?

Hi,

which PHP version do you use?

Please uninstall JoomGallery completely and try it with a fresh installation.

The PHP version is 5.3.26

And I already uninstalled and installed again, but the error still shows.

Hello,

i am experiencing the same problem.

It seems this Parent Category problem only happens in Joomgallery. Backoffice is in portuguese, but the expression "Parent Category" is in english. Strange.

I am using joomla 2.5.14, Joomgallery 2.1.4 and i have recently updated the portuguese language pack.

Still i can´t edit categories! new or old ones, both on the frontednd and the backend

Hi,

@MarcosLima: There seems to be a coruption in the database of your installation. Did you do a test in a complete new installation?

@GL68: Could you please post a screenshot of the position of the select box?

Pardon my lack of knowledge... How do I do a "clean" installation if the site already has Joomgallery already installed?
Would installing over the current one update it?
We are having the issue of not being able to create a parent category on an site that was upgraded from 1.5 to 2.5.14 using jupgrade.

Thanks,

Hi,

installing the same version over an existing one without uninstalling it afore should not cause any problems.

Please note that you have to do a migration of JoomGallery if you go from 1.5 to 2.x. It cannot work without that.

Another question related to your answer. Is "migration" a function that is described somewhere? We had the whole site moved by using jupgrade and then we worked from that to get the site live. I'll start searching for "migration"
Thanks,
Kathy
