I am sorry, I did read the migration process but I still need a bit more clarification

My current situation is that my 2.5 needs to be updated to 3, but there is something wrong with it and it will not upgrade and crashes the site.

I have 3000 images in 100+ categories that I do not want to lose or redo.

Can you please advise the easiest way that I should go about the upgrade to 3 and on a different database name?

Thank you

Jim

If you deinstall all 3rd party extensions (plugins, components, templates), except JoomGallery, then should work the upgrade.

At the moment there is no other way.

This does not seem very clear or perhaps not even the correct instruction.  Perhaps misunderstood the need.

This is more of a "clone" than a migration since these the original gallery is in an old version of Joomla 2.5 that is being moved to a new clean installation with a different database.  The referenced instructions don't seem to apply.

1) Backup not really necessary since the original site will remain untouched.
2) Just copying component won't work because both Joomla/Gallery are different versions.
3) Exporting from old database also won't work because of different versions of Joomla and Gallery. Different database.

Is there a NEW script to "clone" contents from one gallery to another without damage to original installation which must remain functional until the new site is completed?

1) a backup should always be done. If the running migration process is interrupted, it may possibly be necessary to restore the backup.
2) yes, but there was nowhere written that the component you should to copy.
3) yes, but there was nowhere written that the database should exporting from one existing installation to another.

The already existing migration script doing all correct how descripted here.
