I need a migration process which will read an existing directory structure of images.
The categories should be created from the directory/folder names.
The image file names should not be modified in any way.
I then need to be able to key off the database entries to add values for additional fields.

If you have ever used Adobe Lightroom, this would be very similar to their import or directory synchronize process.

I don't mind spending a reasonable amount of time trying to code such a solution, preferably by reusing some existing code. It seems this ought to be pretty easy once the fields to update are identified. I don't have time to spend months categorizing and labeling images.

Kindly offer some suggestions as to how I might be able to get this done.

Thank you, Jeff

Hi,

a user has an Import script on Github available to read the data from a CSV file.
In your case, but you would still need a tool to read the directory structure and images of your hard disk into the csv. For Windows, for example you can try Dirprintok.

For additional fields you can find information here.

PS: You've posted here in solved topics for JoomGallery 2.x. I suppose you are using Joomgallery 3.x?

I do apologize, Yes, I am using the latest 3.x.  I'm liking it very much, especially with the Joomla3 customization capabilities.  I'm sure you know that it is very difficult to find exactly what you want or need in an application. Joomgallery appears to come the closest.

Thank You! Jeff
