We have quite a few thousand images that we would like to migrate from our vBulletin Photopost installation to JoomGallery 2.1.3.

The images are all located on the same dedicated server as Joomla and I'm fairly handy with writing mysql queries and working with db tables.

Before I jump into this, I would appreciate any suggestions on what is the best way to migrate these images.

Is there any easy way to get the images into JoomGallery by just copying them over so some local directory and importing them?

Is there any kind of import script available?

Hi,

JoomGallery uses the ACL of Joomla!, for that asset entries in a database table of Joomla! has to be created for each category and each image.
Unfortunately, it's not possible easily to do this manually for such an amount of categories and images.

So, you have to use a migration script for that migration.
You can have a look at the existing migration scripts in order to adapt them for the gallery you want to migrate from.

Starting with JoomGallery 3.1 for Joomla! 3.x it will be even easier to create such migration scripts for JoomGallery.
