After recent update to 3.3.2, I found that uploading images was not working as it should.
I got the age-old problem of Invalid Parent ID, resulting in all the problems associated.

Which meant, only 1 image would upload, no alias insertion etc... and the amazing problem of detail image and thumb being succssfully deleted.
New sub-categories were not being created correctly in the parent-folder, and hence images were getting positioned in the component root.

Ok, so I read everything available, but nothing seemed to suit my situation.
I have around 60,000 images built up over years of fairs etc. Obviously I have previously done the upgrades and migrations needed and all was apparently good.
Up til now...

So, as a desperate attempt, I downloaded the component, unzipped it, and uploaded to the TMP directory.
Installed it again (on top of the already installed component), and IT WORKED!

All the needed alias fields are now working as they should etc.
Uploads are working as they should again.

Just thought I'd post this as a tip, since I see others have had similar issues.

Yeah well, I guess I nearly deserved this... after the update to Joomla 3.6, the uploads in JoomGallery is not working again, and it's back to the Invalid Parent ID stuff...

The message I can get from the Drop images here for upload is:

Filename: 2016plakatnett.jpg
Upload complete...
Creating thumbnail from JPG, 550 x 770...
Thumbnail created...
Resize is not necessary because the image is already small enough
Resize to maximum width complete...
The image has been deleted from the directory containing the original files.
Invalid Parent ID

Rollback: Deletion of detail image successful

Rollback: Deletion of thumbnail image successful

Suggestions?
I can't be the only one with this problem...

UPDATE: Reading, and found a thread that suggested opening the Category, and just saving it again... Strange... but ok, I tried that, and it works (at the moment).

Additional TIPS if you are having this trouble:

Despite everything I had done, suddenly uploading images started doing the same stuff again.
I looked and tested on a previous Catergory, and that one still worked fine.
From this I could deduct that there was perhaps a problem in the Catergory I was uploading to... Ok, the Category was fine. But (!!) this Category was a subcategory of another one... which (obviously) was NOT ok.

So I had to open the Parent Category, and just save it again.
Then back to uploading, and it started working fine.

yes, this indicates a problem with the table #_assets of Joomla! The entries in the JoomGallery category table probably do not match the #_assets table of Joomla!.
To solve this issue you must open and save all (parent) categories. Chraneco eg has described this here.
